First Time!

Hello fellow Austinites!

My name is Ashley Lahr and I have the wonderful opportunity to intern for the Development division of Catholic Charities, right here in Austin, TX.

Today we are launching a Catholic Charities of Central Texas blog spot in order to reach the Austin community and inform what we do here. Catholic Charities' works toward the reduction and elimination of poverty because it is our moral obligation to help others, based on the moral teachings of the Catholic Church.

We are community based and our services work to benefit the local community. The monies collected by local Catholic Charities agencies remain local, helping people in each agency's community. We have a variety of local programs including but not limited to: aging services, services to children, child development, healthcare, housing and community development, pregnancy, parenting and adoption. These agencies support families and build communities.

We welcome recipients and volunteers regardless of faith, background and ethnicity. Catholic Charities has a policy of non-discrimination and seek to achieve diversity in our staff. We are also highly effective in managing funds to serve local communities. 90 cents of every dollar Catholic Charities agencies collect goes toward helping others.

Warmly,
Ashley
